About the event
We meet as a full group on Zoom on Tuesday, April 15 at 6:15 pm at our usual link: https://ucla.zoom.us/j/4334738531
We will start with a guest lecture on operations for your ventures. For your venture to succeed, you not only have to have a great product that lots of people want, but you also have to execute the operations of delivering that product or service.
Then, in the breakout rooms, the students will present to you the work that they have done drafting a financial model of your venture. The students should have a draft financial model with various scenarios (baseline, optimistic, and pessimistic) to present and you should use that model to discuss key questions about your venture such as what level of sales you need to reach breakeven cash flow on a monthly or annual basis and how much of an investment from outside will you need to finance your startup costs and your initial operating losses until you reach your breakeven level of sales.
This is the time in our process at which it is important to have full and frank discussions regarding all of the questions and concerns that you might have about your venture plans. You can use the financial model as a basis for those discussions. Once you try to fit everything together, what adjustments to your plan do you see that you need to make? Success in our venture competition and in the actual implementation of any venture depends on looking at what you are doing from every angle and in making any changes to the plan that are called for by the facts that you uncover in your analysis.
We are here to support you in those efforts and those conversations.
